JOB SUMMARY: Provides direction and coordinates the activities of Emergency Room Nursing Unit to maintain proper professional and administrative procedures to meet SG Hospital Nursing standards according to Joint Commission on Accreditation (JCIA). Participates in the planning and implementation of integrated preventive-curative nursing care programs ensuring that hospital and nursing objectives, standards of nursing care and practices, policies and procedures are being implemented in Emergency Room Nursing Unit. Reports to the Nursing Director through the Nursing Supervisor and/or Assistant Nursing Director all the ongoing activities and problems within the unit.

SCOPE: Responsible for all aspects of administrative, functional, technical direction of the nursing services provided in Emergency Room Nursing Dept. to maintain high standard. Makes decisions in consultation with Nursing Director for administrative issues and Chief of Emergency Room for technical issues. Keeps both Nursing and Emergency Room Department heads informed of the related services rendered, observation, reinforcement of hospital regulations through scheduled and periodic spot checks of Emergency Room Areas

PRINCIPAL CONTACTS: Consults with Nursing Director and Emergency Room Chief and advises nurses under jurisdiction concerning patients’ care and other related work. In contact with concerned head nurses to give information or resolve patient/nurses issues.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Head Nurse Emergency Job

• Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing; master’s degree in Nursing Administration is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of nursing experience plus three (3) years in head nurse or unit manager position specializing in Emergency Room or related specialty.
• Knowledge/Skills: Excellent managerial, communication, and leadership skills. Expert in all aspects of nursing theories and practices. Matured individual with demonstrated competency in clinical and leadership skills.
• Equipment Operated: Can operate all medical equipment in Emergency Room, computer
• License: A registered nurse (DHA – RN)
• Language: Fluent in English
• Job Conditions: Ability to work effectively with others in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Personal Requirements: Participates actively in organization’s activities without personal reservations.
• Travel: Not required
